About
One in 10 Australian adults have signs of probable chronic kidney disease (CKD) and less than 10% of those affected are aware they may have the condition.
Knowing who is at risk of CKD allows targeted screening and early diagnosis. Early detection and intervention may slow or halt disease progression to help avoid dialysis and kidney transplant, and reduce absolute cardiovascular risk.

This activity allows you to screen patients at risk of CKD and identify those with early signs of the disease.
Chronic kidney disease: Audit and feedback activity 2 – Diagnosis and management (Closed)
This activity allows you to review your approach to the diagnosis and the management of CKD.
Chronic kidney disease: Audit and feedback activity 3 – Pharmacological management (Closed)
This activity allows you to optimise your prescribing for CKD, including the use of:
- angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors / angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) and
- sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitors to treat those with CKD and type 2 diabetes.

Self-directed CPD
This audit and feedback activity can be self-recorded for professional development hours. The audit’s duration will vary depending on the GP, their practice and the number of patients reviewed. NPS MedicineWise recommends allowing approximately 3–8 hours per 5–10 patients to complete each audit. There are three audits available to choose from.
