Quality Use of Medicines – why, what, how and who?

Learning outcomes

Module 1: Fundamentals of QUM

Upon completion of this module the learner will be able to:

• define the term medicines, and briefly outline the benefits and risks of medicine use
• demonstrate an understanding of the impact of inappropriate medicine use
• demonstrate an understanding of the principles and elements of Quality Use of Medicines (QUM)
• list the partners involved in achieving the objectives of the National Medicines Policy (NMP)
• briefly describe the objectives of the NMP.

Module 2: Partners in QUM

Upon completion of this module the learner will be able to:

• list the key partners named in the National Strategy for QUM
• describe the roles and responsibilities of each of the key partners in achieving QUM
• demonstrate an understanding of the priorities and perspective of each of the key partners.
