Managing hepatitis C in primary care

After completing this module you will be able to:

Describe the characteristics that determine whether a patient is a member of a vulnerable group and therefore considered high risk for hepatitis C infection.
Identify the most appropriate ways to open a discussion with patients about HCV and describe the treatment options for patients and the GPs role in management.
Explain what is required of a GP to diagnose hepatitis C and what investigations need to be completed to determine treatment course.
Explain what is required to evaluate underlying liver disease and describe factors which may progress liver disease in a patient with HCV infection.
Implement a recall system to monitor patients during treatment and for long term monitoring following treatment completion.
